With our re:imagine program for Brilliance by Michael Hill members, you can upgrade an existing diamond jewellery piece for something new, to better reflect your evolving personal style or perhaps where you’ve arrived in your life and your love story.

We stand behind the quality and lasting beauty of our diamonds at Michael Hill, so we will offer a credit for 100% of your original purchase price on eligible products, to put towards a new piece.

Am I eligible to upgrade my piece?

Currently, our re:imagine program is available only for products purchased in-store or online through Michael Hill Australia

The original product that you’re returning must contain at least one certified, natural (mined) diamond of at least 0.5ct and be accompanied by your original purchase receipt.

You’ll need to purchase your new piece at the same time as returning your original piece – you can select your new item if it’s available instore or make a special order.

You’ll also need to be a Brilliance by Michael Hill Brilliance loyalty member. It’s free and easy to join, and you can sign-up online here or our teams will sign you up in-store.

What kind of products can I upgrade to?

With our re:imagine program, you can return your original diamond product for credit towards any new piece of jewellery, provided the new product is at least twice the original purchase price.

You can elevate your original diamond engagement ring to celebrate a significant anniversary or mark your enduring love story; update a diamond heirloom piece for something that better reflects your personal style; or simply upgrade a previous favourite for the piece you’ve been dreaming of.

Terms & Conditions

Michael Hill’s Re:imagine Program for Brilliance members (subject to change at any time)

If you want to upgrade your Michael Hill diamond jewellery product, you may be able to participate in our Re:imagine Program. This program allows you to return one eligible diamond jewellery product for full credit of the purchase price and apply that credit to the purchase price of one new diamond jewellery product in simultaneous transactions ("Transaction"), subject to eligibility.

Eligibility criteria

To participate in the Re:imagine Program:

  • your original product (“Original Product”) must:

    • contain at least one certified natural (mined) diamond of at least 0.50ct

    • have been purchased from a Michael Hill store in Australia or Michael Hill website and delivered in Australia

    • be in undamaged condition less reasonable wear and tear.

  • your new product (“New Product”) must:

    • be purchased from a Michael Hill store in Australia (from store inventory or special order)

    • the amount that you pay for the New Product must be at least 2 times that amount paid for the Original Product.

  • you must be a Brilliance by Michael Hill member (it’s free to join).

  • you are either:

    • the purchaser of the Original Product, or

    • the first giftee of the Original Product provided the gift transfer occurred within a reasonable time of purchase (which shall be no longer than six months after the original purchase) and is a bona fide gift for no payment whatsoever.

  • bring your Original Product into one of our stores along with the purchase receipt.

Important information

You acknowledge that once you return the Original Product, the Original Product becomes the property of Michael Hill, and you forfeit all rights, title and claim in the Original Product. Following completion of the Transaction, Michael Hill may deal with the Original Product as it sees fit, and in its sole discretion. This policy applies even if you return the New Product under your consumer law rights.

If you have purchased a Professional Care Plan for your Original Product, this will no longer be valid if you return the Original Product under the Re:Imagine Program. For the avoidance of doubt, the cost of the Professional Care Plan does not form part of the cost of the Original Product. You can choose to purchase a new Professional Care Plan for your New Product.

The Re:imagine Program is offered at Michael Hill’s discretion; Michael Hill may at any time temporarily or permanently suspend offering this program. Michael Hill may also at any time amend the eligibility or participation criteria.

The Re:imagine Program is an extended returns program on the terms set out above. For the avoidance of doubt, Michael Hill’s Change of Mind Policy does not apply to your New Product purchased under the Re:imagine Program.

Right of Return for New Products purchased under the Re:imagine Program

If the New Product is faulty and we determine that the fault entitles you to a refund under Australian Consumer Law, the amount you will be refunded will be equal to the purchase price of the New Product (being the sum of the credit from the return of your Original Product and the difference paid by you to purchase the New Product). Change of Mind Policy

Our Change of Mind Policy does not apply to:

  • earrings

  • resized rings (whether resized as part of the purchase or after purchase)

  • engraved items

  • special, custom or made to order items

  • any products purchased through the Re:imagine Program.

If for any reason you change your mind about any eligible purchase, we will gladly refund the purchase price, provided:

  • you return the goods within 30 days of purchase (or delivery in the case of online orders)

  • the goods are in As New Condition and accompanied by:

    • proof of purchase

    • original packaging

    • with all paperwork (such as diamond certificates or watch instruction booklets).

'As New Condition' means that the item must not have been worn; the item must be in pristine condition with no damage, scratches, or signs of wear. Determination of an item matching the definition of 'As New Condition' is at the sole discretion of Michael Hill.

You will be responsible for the post and/or shipping costs (including customs and duties costs if applicable) to return your items to Michael Hill.

Our Change of Mind Policy is in addition to, and in no way limits, your legal entitlement and existing rights under consumer law.
